Hospitality accounting & tax · Australia-wide

Your margins are leaking. We find where.

Pink Accounting is a hospitality specialist and registered tax agent for cafés, restaurants, bars and multi-venue groups. Wages move, suppliers reprice, waste builds. We read those numbers every month, while you can still do something about them. In one $1M venue we found up to $70,000 a year going out through shift design, food waste and trading hours nobody had costed.

Who we work with

Cafés, restaurants, bars and venues.

Single sites and multi-venue groups, from a suburban café to a group running several kitchens. Hospitality is the whole book, not a sideline.

Why it matters

Your shop changes every week. Your numbers shouldn't arrive three months later.

Hospitality is a weekly business. Rosters change, suppliers reprice, a slow Tuesday turns into a slow month. An annual reporting cycle lands after the year has closed, when the only thing left to do is lodge it.

The venue moves weekly

Wages, food cost and trade change from one week to the next. A decision you make in March is long spent before anything reports on it.

The report lands yearly

A tax return explains a year you can no longer change. It is the right document for the ATO and the wrong one for running a venue.

So we close the gap

Every month we read wages, food cost, rent and overhead against your sales, name the line that moved, and put a yearly number on it.

60-second Margin Check

Your shop is busy. Where is the money actually going?

Five figures off your last month. It runs in your browser. Nothing is sent unless you choose to. It runs in your browser and shows you where the money is most likely going.

What the work finds

One venue. $70,000 a year. Three ordinary causes.

The engagement

A single-site venue turning over about $1M a year came to us profitable on paper and short of cash. Reading the month rather than the year, we found up to $70,000 a year leaving through three ordinary things: shift design that put staff on before the trade arrived, food waste nobody was measuring, and trading hours that cost more to stay open than they brought in.

That is one venue and one engagement, not a promise. Your number will be different. The way we find it will not.

What we read, every month

  • Wage cost against sales, worked back to the roster
  • Food and beverage cost, and the drift behind it
  • Prime cost, wages and stock together
  • Rent and overhead as a share of what you actually take
  • What changed since last month, and what it is worth over a year

Benchmarks we work to: wages at or under 30% of sales, food and beverage at or under 36%, prime cost at or under 62%, rent at or under 10%.

Hospitality Margin Protection

$990 + GST per month

Every month we sit with your numbers and answer four questions about your venue. You get the answers, the number attached to each one, and what to do next.

Bookkeeping, payroll for up to five staff and BAS oversight sit underneath it, so the numbers those answers come from can be trusted. You deal with Pink directly on WhatsApp, not a ticket queue.

  • 1. Are you actually making money? Not what the bank balance suggests. What the month really returned.
  • 2. What changed? The lines that moved since last month, and by how much.
  • 3. Where is margin leaking? Wages, food cost, rent, overhead, named and costed.
  • 4. What should you do next? The one or two changes worth making this month.

Monthly, ex GST. Most venues start on Margin Protection and stay there. Month to month after the first three, and no lock-in contract.

Underneath it

The compliance is ours too.

Bookkeeping, payroll, BAS, annual financial statements, company and individual returns, FBT and ASIC all sit with the same team. It is the infrastructure the margin work stands on, and it runs inside the plan you choose.

Compliance, prepared and lodged

  • Bookkeeping and payroll, including STP
  • BAS and IAS
  • Annual financial statements
  • Company, trust and individual tax returns
  • FBT returns
  • ASIC correspondence and company registers

Planning and advisory

  • Monthly margin review, wages %, COGS drift, overhead pressure
  • Tax planning before 30 June, while you can still act on it
  • Budgets and cashflow forecasting
  • Structure and entity advice as the group grows
  • A principal who answers the phone
